Student Led Athletics Media (S.L.A.M.) team
The MCPS Interscholastic Athletics Student Led Athletics Media team aims to:
- Amplify student voice in the media coverage of MCPS Athletics;
- Promote R.A.I.S.E. core values through enhanced countywide media presence;
- Respect & Sportsmanship
- Academic Excellence
- Integrity
- Spirited & Safe Competition
- Equity & Access
- Engage student leaders at countywide athletic events to highlight the positive impact of interscholastic sports.
Participation Standards:
Being part of the program is a privilege, and all student participants must:
- Demonstrate exemplary public behavior that reflects positively on MCPS Athletics; and
- Follow all school district rules, regulations, and policies.
Student Media Roles:
Students involved in the program serve in one of the following key roles:
- Game Announcer – MCPS County Championships
- Provide live commentary during athletic events.
- Research and present team statistics, player profiles, and historical context.
- Photographer – Regular and Postseason Games
- Capture high-quality visuals that document the athletic experience.
- Social Media Content Creator
- Create behind-the-scenes content.
- Share highlights, interviews, and promotional material on official MCPS Athletics platforms.
- Contribute new ideas and features for the athletics website.
- Journalist – research and create stories to be published on our website to highlight events around the county
