Student Led Athletics Media (S.L.A.M.) team

The MCPS Interscholastic Athletics Student Led Athletics Media team aims to:

  • Amplify student voice in the media coverage of MCPS Athletics;
  • Promote R.A.I.S.E. core values through enhanced countywide media presence;
    • Respect & Sportsmanship
    • Academic Excellence
    • Integrity
    • Spirited & Safe Competition
    • Equity & Access
  • Engage student leaders at countywide athletic events to highlight the positive impact of interscholastic sports.

Participation Standards:

Being part of the program is a privilege, and all student participants must:

  • Demonstrate exemplary public behavior that reflects positively on MCPS Athletics; and
  • Follow all school district rules, regulations, and policies.
     

Student Media Roles:

Students involved in the program serve in one of the following key roles:

  • Game Announcer – MCPS County Championships
    • Provide live commentary during athletic events.
    • Research and present team statistics, player profiles, and historical context.
  • Photographer – Regular and Postseason Games
    • Capture high-quality visuals that document the athletic experience.
  • Social Media Content Creator
    • Create behind-the-scenes content.
    • Share highlights, interviews, and promotional material on official MCPS Athletics platforms.
    • Contribute new ideas and features for the athletics website.
  • Journalist – research and create stories to be published on our website to highlight events around the county
