Media Protocols for MCPS Regular Season Athletic Events
Media credentialing ensures a safe environment for members of the press covering MCPS athletic events, and is essential for easy identification and knowing who may be in our athletic facilities.
Who Needs to Present Athletic Event Media Credentials
All members of the media—including journalists, reporters, photographers, videographers, bloggers, vloggers, social media content creators, athletic, and any individual or organization seeking access to an MCPS athletic event for the purpose of reporting, recording, photography, videography, or other media coverage—must present appropriate identification. Representatives of recognized news organizations (formerly Tier 1) may use their official institutional press credentials. All other individuals requesting media access must obtain, present, and visibly wear an MCPS-issued media credential while attending MCPS athletic events.
Notification of Intent to Cover an Event
Credentialed individuals must also inform high school athletic directors of their intention to attend an event by email. Email contacts for local school athletic directors can be found here.
