The MCPS Athletics office recognized Jermaine Howell with its monthly “Athletics Legend Award,” celebrating his outstanding contributions as head coach of the Wheaton High School football program. The “Legend Award,” part of MCPS’ ongoing effort to highlight coaches and mentors who go above and beyond for their students and communities, singled out Howell for his leadership, dedication, and positive impact on and off the field. His transformation of the team hasn’t been purely about on-field performance; the shift also reshaped the school’s culture. Howell emphasized discipline, conditioning, offseason training, and a “new standard” for what Wheaton football should represent. Coach Howell, a former athletic director at Einstein HS, is also a sport director in the county and serves on the state football committee. Congratulations coach and thank you for all that you do!
